The Strength of 1kg Tobacco
The tobacco
black market does not thrive. Whenever Governments of any colour have
introduced targeted measures to reduce smoking the illegal trade has fallen.
You must
not remove more than your allocation for home use in any month of the
controlled period. Read paragraph 3.5.
Authenticity
1kg Tobacco is
a flammable substance and counterfeit tobacco can be produced under unhygienic
conditions in a variety of ways including the use of toxic elements such as
arsenic. It also contains dangerous amounts of tar and nicotine and can present
an increased fire risk because it does not have self-extinguishing properties.
The 70 STPs
measured were analysed for major non-toxicant components (nicotine, total and
reducing sugars, humectants (propylene glycol and glycerol), sodium and
chloride ions, ash) on an as sold basis and for oven moisture using two
methods, a near infra-red method and Karl Fischer. These analyses were performed
at BAT.
Arsenic
concentrations vary widely within the sample set ranging from 144 to 3914 mg As
kg-1 and are largely dominated by inorganic species rather than organic ones
(DMA and MA). Concentrations of As species eluted from the column appear to be
low suggesting that a significant fraction of As present is complexed, strongly
complexed or in an organic form.
Strength
The
strength of tobacco is determined by the concentration of nicotine in its
leaves. Nicotine is a toxic alkaloid that is present in all tobacco varieties
and accounts for about 95 % of the total tobacco alkaloids (Merck Index 2001;
Hukkanen et al. 2005). The level of nicotine in the tobacco leaves is dependent
on climatic conditions, temperature, rainfall, cultivation area, cultural practice
of cultivation and the maturity level of the tobacco plant. The nicotine
concentration of four types of tobacco leaves collected from different regions
of Ethiopia were determined by serial dilution with distilled water to
construct a calibration curve.
Packing
Tobacco is
a very sensitive product that requires proper packaging. If you do not pack it
correctly, it may develop rim char or dry out and lose its flavor. The best way
to prevent this is by packing it in a sealed pouch. The pouch also helps in
retaining moisture and keeping it fresh for longer.
First,
you must find a cardboard box that is large enough for your tobacco. Next, fill
it with cushioning and packing peanuts to keep your tobacco safe and secure.
Lastly, wrap the box with bubble wrap to protect it from damage and moisture.
It is important to note that some countries restrict tobacco shipments. To
learn more about the restrictions, visit their customs websites. This will help
you determine whether you need a license to ship tobacco or not. It is also
important to check the taxes and duties involved in shipping tobacco. These
will vary by country. This will affect the total price of your shipment.
